His wife, whom he married in April, 1870, was Frances Calista Osborne of Sophiasburgh in Prince Edward county so like many other attendees at the conference he had ties with the Quinte area. At the time of his marriage, he was preaching in Prince Edward, but by 1871, he was stationed in Sheffield township, Lennox and Addington. By 1881, William Service was the Minister of Grace Methodist Church in Napanee. His family consisted of wife, Frances, and Charles (9), Nellie (7) and Etta or Etha (2). To date, we have not determined what happened to this family between departure from Napanee and Service's death. Rev. Service died in March, 1909, in Aultsville, Stormont county, of stomach cancer. His wife, Frances Service died in Stormont county in 1921.
