Description Detail. Methodist Episcopal General Conference, held at Napanee, August, 1874. Rev. Isaac Brock Aylesworth, M.A.

Rev. Aylesworth was born in 1838 at Edmonton, Peel county, Ontario (later Snelgrove) and died on August 12, 1906, at Detroit, Michigan. He began his career with the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1854 as an assistant to Rev. D. Pomeroy on the Renfrew Circuit. He later attended Albert College in Belleville. In 1871, he was living in South Grenville where he served on first the Brockville and then the Augusta Circuit. At the time of Union (1884) he was the encumbent at Napanee. He was a member of a very distinguished family. A cousin, Hon. A.B. Aylesworth, was for a time the Minister of Justice. His brother, Rev. Dr. D.W. Aylesworth, was a prominent Methodist preacher in the United States for over fifty years.

Rev. Aylesworth's obituary says: "Dr. Aylesworth came to prominence as a writer, preacher, lecturer and as a humorist. He loved books, nature, Methodist preachers and the common people."
