Horatio Nelson Chase, a miller, came to Napanee from Tweed sometime between1901 and 1911 (see census). He was born in 1865 in Murray township. His wife was Martha "Mattie" Rook from Newburgh, daughter of John and Lydia Rook, and so had close ties with Lennox and Addington. Nelson Chase married her in Trenton on October 13, 1886.
