The deaths contained in the Vital Statistics of the Province of Ontario are closed to the public for approximately 70 years after the event to protect personal privacy. Newspapers are therefore very useful to the researcher.

The following may represent a "death notice" containing only a few lines, or they may represent a longer "obituary".

Comment from volunteer: I made this list while looking for a relative. Each week is on a different microfiche. Notices are just in the classified columns. Obituaries are articles. It was not easy to find all the deaths, as obituaries were not always printed on the same page. Also, at the beginning of 1991, the death notices were classified group 40, but it changed part-way through the year to group 45. If you are absolutely sure that the person died in Napanee in 1991 and the name is not on this list, I suggest you look at the microfiche.
